Derwentside Enterprise Fair

The Derwentside Enterprise Fair is one of a series of events that have been held throughout County Durham this year aimed at people interested in setting up their own business, whether unemployed, at risk of redundancy or simply thinking of becoming self employed and looking for available support and funding.

Entrepreneurs Sadie ‘the bra lady’ Ayton and Sarah Pittendrigh were guest speakers at the event, organised by the County Durham Economic Partnership and Jobcentre Plus, with some of the North East’s leading support agencies.

The event was perfect for those who had an idea, but didn’t know how to take it further. Delegates had the opportunity to participate in 15 minute workshops throughout the day based around four themes - ‘could I?’, ‘should I?’, ‘how do I?’, and ‘who do I?’. The workshops, led by Derwentside Enterprise Agency, looked at generating business ideas, identifying opportunities, setting up and running a business and who can help and how.

If you missed this event come along to the Durham Enterprise Fair on Thursday 19th November between 10am and 2pm at Durham Town Hall. This event coincides with Global Entrepreneurship Week - as the world focuses on global entrepreneurship, County Durham is hoping to propel their own potential entrepreneurs into the spotlight!
